Pushkar is a town in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. I along with my parents visited Pushkar to explore the beauty of the holy city last vacation. Pushkar is often called "Tirth Raj", the king of pilgrimage sites. The place is one of the oldest existing cities of India. The city is on the banks of the Pushkar lake. [caption id="attachment_1200" align="alignnone" width="300"] Pushkar[/caption] We stayed at Aaram Baagh holiday stay in Pushkar. The property was at the out skirt of the town with eco friendly environment. It is in the foothills of Aravalli near Goddess Savitri Temple at a height of 100 feet providing great panoramic views of mountains and lush green valleys. The most important tourist place in Pushkar is the famous ancient Brahma Temple. It is said to be one of the few such temples in the world. Another most charming aspect of Pushkar is its long line up of fifty-two bathing Ghats surrounding the lake. Here I could see sadhus and pilgrims taking their spiritual bath. After taking holy bath and Brahmaji Darshan we went for a 1 hour trek up the hill to reach Saraswati Temple. From the top of the hill we got extremely fantastic views of the holy town. The next day we planned to visit the Shiva temples of Pushkar city. There are a collection of Shiva temples at a distance of about 8 kms from the city. We started early in the morning. We had a great trip by motorbike through deserted hills and quiet villages. Even though the track was hilly and rocky, we had a good excursion. We also enjoyed camel safari in Pushkar. I haven’t even dreamt of taking a camel safari till that day. That was really amazing. We also purchased traditional hand-woven shirts and shawls from Khadi Gramodhyog. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and looking forward to visit Pushkar again.
