Recently I had a short holiday trip to the little quaint hill station of Yelagiri in Tamil Nadu. I along with my family visited the hill station last month. The place is renowned for its stunning natural vistas and pleasant climate prevailing throughout the year. Bounded by four mountains, this hilly terrain offers the enchanting sceneries of slopes of the mountain and the green forests that cover the hill. [caption id="attachment_1109" align="alignnone" width="300"] Yelagiri[/caption] There were 14 hairpin bends to reach the hilltop. The picturesque beauty of the hills and its surroundings can be very well enjoyed from these hairpin bends. The seventh bend is the best point from where we could get a complete view of the beauty of the green forest and the dazzling slopes of the mountain. There is a telescope on the Ghat road for getting the proper view of the slopes and landscapes of the hills. We stayed at Natures Nest Holiday Villa. We were provided all the essential comforts, like a dream home away from home. There are 14 small villages in Yelagiri. We got a great chance to see and understand the customs and habits of the tribal people in these villages. The main occupation of the tribes there were agriculture, forestry, horticulture, etc. The structure of the tribal houses was very unique to watch. The main tourist attractions we visited there were Punganur Lake, Velavan Temple, Jalagamparai Waterfalls and Vainu Poppu Solar Observatory, Kavalur. We also had trekking to the Jalagamparai Waterfalls from the hills. Our trip was really memorable and is planning to visit there again in future.
