The Government of Kerala has decided to appoint Steffi Graf, the former German Tennis player as ambassador for the Ayurveda Tourism as part of ‘Visit Kerala Scheme’. The ancient system of health care in Kerala is famous for its holistic effect on body and mind, attracts large number of people from the country and abroad ever year.
Due to the recent prohibition of liquor, there has been a decline in tourism. As, about one third of Kerala’s International tourists are from European countries, the government has taken this decision.
Steffanie Maria Graf is a German former World number 1 Tennis player who has won 22 Grand Slam single titles. She has also won World Number 1 title for the longest period ever by any player. By appointing Steffi Graf as the brand ambassador, the government hopes to retain and boost the tourists.
Kerala Government is planning to promote Ayurveda among foreign tourists as a way to sustain health and youthfulness. The Ayurvedic rejuvenation treatment will require a stay of more than a week and the tourists have to stay in the host country for a longer period thereby enhancing the popularity of ayurveda tourism.
